KUALA LUMPUR: National cyclist Mohd Adiq Husainie Othman will face the biggest test of his life when he rides in the 250km road race at the London Olympics on July 28.

This will be the longest distance Adiq has ever attempted and he is hoping to be mentally strong to complete the course.

The Champion System professional rider will fly to Belgium on July 2 to take part in several road races with team-mate Amir Mustafa Rusli as preparation for the Games.

“The distance itself is a big challenge and my priority is to finish the race. For that, I have to be strong enough to face up to all eventualities,” said Adiq at the launch of Eurosport channel’s live coverage of the Tour de France yesterday. Also present was cycling team manager Datuk Naim Mohamad.

Together with former Olympian M. Kumaresan, Adiq has been chosen as the Eurosport ambassador for the live coverage of the Tour de France from June 30-July 22.
