Pishgaman Giant Team completed their domination of Jelajah Malaysia this year with Arvin Moazami Godarzi winning the yellow jersey as South Korean Park Sung Baek romped to a commanding win in the final stage.
Sung Baek made clear his intentions from early in the race, forming a successful breakaway with Irwandie Lakasek (NSC-Mycron) and Dadi Suryadi (TSG) from 60km which stuck till the end. The South Korean from KSPO won the 184.4km stage from Kemamam to Kuala Terengganu in style as he dropped the duo comfortably towards the finish.
Irwandi came in second while Dadi completed the podium (both +2s). Sung Baek’s performance also saw him winning the points classification jersey (blue jersey).
“We were looking for the stage win from the start, though everyone wanted to attack. I just wanted a gap and we got away. I am very happy to get the blue jersey as well, as the stage win was actually the goal for me. It was closer than it looked, Dadi wanted it as well and attacked with 5km to go but I managed to win it,” said Sung Baek.
Arvin had no problems defending his lead in the general classification and took the overall win with a time of 17:53:54s.
“I am very happy, the team worked hard to keep the jersey with us and we did it. It was a challenging stage as a lot of breaks were attempted from early on. But there was no problems for us today, we just maintained our position throughout the day,” said Arvin.
There were no surprises as Pishgaman Giant team took the overall team classification title with Arvin’s teammates Amir Kolahdouzhagh, Reza Hosseini and Rahim Emami coming in second, third and fourth in the GC.
Nik Mohd Azwan Zulkiflie (NSC) defended his lead to successfully emerge as the best Malaysian rider in the tour as Australian Jesse James Ewart took the best young
