National Track Cyclist Mohd Azizulhasni Awang and national diver Pandelela Rinong were both conferred the Ahli Mangku Negara (AMN) by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah in conjunction with the birthday celebrations of His Majesty.

The Raja Permaisuri Agong Tuanku Haminah was also present at the investiture which was held at Istana Negara to award 303 recipients. Both Azizulhasni and Pandelela were rewarded for their Olympic podium achievements at the recent Rio Olympics in Brazil.

Mohd Azizulhasni said his effort and sacrifices in sports were rewarded by the award.

“I am proud to be conferred this award especially since this investiture ceremony this year is the last before the Yang di-Pertuan Agong returns to Istana Kedah when his term ends on Dec 12,” said Azizulhasni.

Pandelela also told Bernama that she was grateful for the award, her first, and said it would encourage her to do better in sports.
