Even after a long season, the protagonists of the Topeak-Ergon Racing Team are still unfatigued. Sally Bigham celebrates her 5th victory at the Canyon Roc Marathon in Fréjus, France, while Alban Lakata conquers the podium in second.
Sally Bigham keeps making Roc d’Azur history: The Topeak-Ergon athlete is pleased with her 5th victory at the Roc d’Azur, the last race of the season.
“Last weekend I raced my final race of the 2016 season and I finished with one more win at the Roc D’Azur bike festival in Frejus, South of France. It was a perfect end to a great season with many highlights including becoming European Champion, Vice World Champion, and winning 4 of the UCI World Series Marathon races as well as the Transalp and Leadville 100”.
Alban Lakata was also content with how his season ended: ”Not much went wrong today,” says the second in the world after the 82 kilometer long marathon on Friday. Certainly his physical condition and his tactical behavior at the race of the UCI Marathon series weren’t wrong. Alban allowed for a gap at the beginning, but kept the leading group in sight. I rode in my rhythm and didn’t participate in the performance peaks”, explains the Albanator.
Alban was also starting at the Cross-Country edition this Sunday. The Austrian is presenting himself greatly in the field of many world-class riders. He kept close to the chasing pack for a long time, but only towards the end he did let them get away. ”I’m very satisfied with the performance. I was surprised that I felt reasonably well after the marathon,” says Lakata after taking 10th place at the festival, which counted over 20,000 participants on six days. Kristian Hynek took 14th.
