Ivan Chung completed his first run-bike-run race at the Powerman Asia Duathlon Championships in Putrajaya.

Naturally, when you work with Lerun Malaysia, Ivan Chung cycles more than he runs in the last few years.

Feeling inspired, Ivan took up the challenge in his first 5km run – 30km bike – 5km run race at the Powerman Asia Duathlon Championships held in Putrajaya recently.

“As an exhibitor during Powerman in the last two years, seeing others participate made me wonder if could I do it too. I’ve always told myself and others that I can’t run with my flat feet. And this year, I wanted to prove myself wrong.” said Ivan.

“I have only been cycling and not running much. The mileage I recorded in the last month, is definitely more than I’ve ever run in the last five years!” said Ivan.

“At the start, I followed the pace of other runners which was faster than my usual. Turns out, I ran 5km in 35 minutes compared to my usual of 45 minutes. Completed my second 5km run in 50 plus minutes, which I’m happy with,” he continued.

“On the cycling route, a lot of cyclists were blocking faster riders, by riding across the whole breadth of the road.” he added.

Ivan’s loyal steed has been the Polygon Helios 800X and is seeking to return next year to race again, perhaps in the Classic category which is double the distance.
