PROLINTAS Group of Companies is pleased to announce that the second edition of the Guthrie Corridor Expressway (GCE) – ELMINA Duathlon will be held on Sunday, 8 September 2019.

The event is held in collaboration with PROLINTAS and Sime Darby Property and is the only duathlon event held on a closed highway in Malaysia.

According to PROLINTAS Group Chief Executive, Dato’ Mohammad Azlan Abdullah, “The Full Duathlon and Dash Duathlon race routes will start and end at the City of Elmina, Sime Darby Property’s township development in Shah Alam.”

“To add excitement and uniqueness to the experience, the run-bike-run race format will take participants along the architecture and landscape of the City of Elmina for the running route and around the GCE for the cycling route.”

More than 1,000 participants from all ages and levels of competency are expected to take part this year. The GCE will be fully closed to all highway users from 3.00 am to 3.00 pm for the event day.

The GCE-ELMINA Duathlon 2019 has three race categories and also non-competitive events such as the Fun Ride and Fun Run. The Full Duathlon (10km Run, 60km Bike, 10km Run) and Dash Duathlon (5km Run, 30km Bike, 5km Run) are open to men and women aged 16 and above. Participants will be divided into gender groups and three to four age groups.

The Team Relay (10km Run, 60km Bike, 10km Run) is divided into Men and Mixed Relays, comprising of three participants aged 16 and above per team.

A Fun Ride (30km Bike) and Fun Run (3km) will also be organised for those aged 16 and above looking just to take a ride or run around the City of Elmina or GCE.

Registration is already open and will be extended until 31 July 2019 (Wednesday). All participants will receive a race pack with the event t-shirt, goodie bag, timing chip andother gifts.

The City of Elmina which was the MIPPEA Township Excellence Award 2018 winner, features five distinctly themed parks that collectively form the 300-acre Elmina Central Park and 90-kilometre cycling and jogging track; one of the longest in the country.

The township enjoys great connectivity via the GCE and other highways, including the upcoming Damansara-Shah Alam Highway (DASH) which is expected to be completed by early 2020.
