JAKOBSTAD, Finland, October 11, 2017 – Herrmans today broadens the popular and innovative H-Black product family with the H-Black MR8, a cost-effective alternative for high-end pedelec or dynamo equipped city and trekking bikes.

While its predecessor, the H-Black Pro, was the first light in the bike industry using projector lens technology, the MR stands for mirror reflector, a precision engineered plastic with metallic coating that controls and focuses the light.

“The mirror in the H-Black Pro is the smallest we could feasibly make” says product development engineer Erkki Sonkajärvi. “During this project, we applied all of that knowledge into the H-Black MR8 to create an ultra-compact mirror reflector light.”

The H-Black MR8 has been designed for mounting to the fork crown or handlebar so has very broad and bright near-field illumination. The remainder of the 180 lumen output are focused up to 30 meters away, ideal for use at higher speeds.

“The mirror design was technically very demanding,” RnD manager Tomas Porthin added. “We created a totally new shape of lens with both a very sharp light-output angle for the nearfield and a shallower region for farther distances, when combined the light pattern looks like dragonflame.”

Available for both ebike and dynamos, with a wide-range of brackets and fitting options, the H-Black MR8 starts shipping in Autumn 2017.
