Le Tour de Langkawi 2019 (LTdL 2019) would like to invite all Malaysians to join in the fun and excitement of the LTdL 2019 race at Resorts World Genting, Malaysia’s premier holiday destination which has officially returned as the “Queen Stage” in the Stage 4 of the event.

Riders will begin their most challenging climb on Tuesday, April 9, 2019 and the peloton will be entering Resorts World Genting from the Ulu Yam to Batang Kali entry and ending the race at the peak of Genting Highlands.

In ensuring a smooth travel for all cycling fans and visitors to Resorts World Genting throughout the race period, below are some tips to facilitate their movements up and down the hill:

Public access

  • Access road to the peak of Genting Highlands (uproad) for the public in motorised vehicles will remain open throughout the race.
  • Access roads for vehicles descending from the peak will be closed temporarily from 2.30pm until 5.00pm.
  • A rolling road closure system will be applied at Gohtong Jaya roundabout and Awana checkpoint on the uproad during the passage of riders.

Parking area for the public

  • Ample parking space is available for the public at the mountain top.
  • Fans travelling by cars or motorcycles are requested to park at the appropriate parking areas and to ensure that their vehicles do not obstruct the traffic flow.

Other leisure cycling activities

  • Members of the public or recreational cyclists are reminded that cycling up to Genting Highlands is not allowed.
  • Recreational cyclist will be denied access at these checkpoints: Kisang Checkpoint, Batang Kali Checkpoint and Awana Checkpoint.

Keeping our tourist spot safe and clean

  • Fans and the general public are strictly prohibited from setting up open fires, embers or food trucks along the entire access roads around Resorts World/Genting Hilltop.
  • In keeping up with the spirit of promoting sports tourism in Malaysia and to ensure the comfort and safety of the spectators, fans are requested to not litter and to keep the areas clean especially at popular tourist spots. Please dispose your own garbage appropriately.

Members of the public are also advised to plan their journey early to avoid any inconveniences while travelling up to Resorts World Genting.

For all other recreational activities, the public must adhere to the rules and regulations set by the management of Resorts World Genting.

About Le Tour de Langkawi

Le Tour de Langkawi is a multiple stage bicycle race held in Malaysia conceived by Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir, with the objective of placing Malaysia on the world sporting and tourism map.

Held since the 1996, the race usually begins in Langkawi and includes major landmarks such as Genting Highlands and Dataran Merdeka. The race is sanctioned by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) as a 2.HC (hors category) race as part of the UCI Asia Tour calendar, and is the biggest event in Asia.

Because of the reputation it holds, the race regularly attracts top teams from the Pro Tour as well as national teams from a number of European and Asian countries. This year’s race will take place from the 6th of April to the 13th of April.
