One of Malaysia’s most anticipated and unique cycling events, the RHB Shimano Highway Ride @ LEKAS 2016, took off to a resounding start recently when over 3,000 cycling enthusiasts were ‘flagged-off’ at the Kajang Selatan Toll Plaza, Lebuhraya Kajang Seremban E21 (LEKAS Highway) by Yang Berhormat Datuk Rosnah Bte Abdul Rashid Shirlin, Deputy Minister, Ministry of Works.
The Highway Ride was the result of a three-party collaboration between RHB Banking Group (RHB), Shimano Singapore Pte Ltd and Lebuhraya Kajang-Seremban Sdn Bhd, which is a subsidiary of IJM Corporation Berhad’s Toll Division. GoSportz Sdn Bhd, a sports marketing and event management company, was the race organiser.
“As the joint title sponsor for Malaysia’s first night cycling race on a closed highway, we are delighted to see such an overwhelming and enthusiastic response from participants. Clearly, this event has struck a chord amongst cycling enthusiasts and health-minded individuals in Malaysia and beyond. We will continue to spearhead innovative events such as this to engage communities,” said Dato’ Khairussaleh Ramli, Group Managing Director, RHB Banking Group.
This inaugural night race is aimed at bringing competitive cyclists, leisure cyclists and families with children together under one fun-filled event to promote healthy lifestyles in Malaysia. A total road closure on the highway which began from Kajang Selatan Interchange up to Paroi Junction was carried out to ensure a smooth and safe ride for the participants.

RHB Shimano Highway Ride @ LEKAS 2016 featured two primary race distances – 105km and 78km. The 78km Men’s Open was won by ‘s (TSG) Anuar Manan while Norimran Bin Nor In won the 105km Men’s Open.
Meanwhile, the 78km Women’s title was won by Christina Liew and the 105km title went to Heng Sivlang.
Yang Berhormat Khairy Jamaluddin, Minister of Sports also joined the race as did members of the Terengganu Pro Asia Cycling Team (TSG).
