Active Travel programme set out. Cycle parking at every venue, bike maintenance at some. Routes to venues by bike revealed.

Transport for London, alongside London 2012 organisers, has today outlined an Active Travel programme, designed to get those watching the games to arrive on foot or by cycling.

Transport for London has even predicted an additional one million journeys by foot and bicycle, per day, during the games.

Every venue playing host to an event is said to now have cycle parking installed, a total of 18,800 new spaces, while free cycle maintenance is available at the Olympic Park, Box Hill, Hampton Court, Hadleigh Farm and Brands Hatch. 7,000 of those cycle parking spaces are at the Olympic park.

Organisers have also compiled over 150 walks and 425 rides to an from the venues, compiled in a guide available to order (free of charge) here.
