Malaysian Granfondo Trophy 2012

GranFondo Event Sdn Bhd runs its own series of Gran Fondo within South East Asia to bring you a great selection of rides.

A Granfondo derived its origin in Italy and is commonly translated as “Big Ride”. In Europe these are mass start rides, often honoring a former renowned bike racer like Eddy Merckx, and attract up to 10,000 riders of all types. True European Granfondos are like races for the masses, with partial road closures, which GranFondo Event Sdn Bhd offers on all events.

Held at three locations: Penang (30th Sept, 2012); Kuala Lumpur (October 21, 2012); Ipoh (November 21, 2012). The organizers of the Malaysian Granfondo claims to offer timed racing, but focuses on just riding for fun and try to give everyone the fanfare of riding a stage in the Tour de France.

All Abilities Welcome

Feel like a pro for the day. Some cyclists enter for the challenge and satisfaction of making it to the finish line; others want to push themselves and their friends; and some ride to win! Regardless, every GranFondo Event is an unforgettable cycling experience!

This is Asia’s first GranFondo series, and for more information, log on to the Official Website at

been hearing that organizer have been shifting the event dates. reason quoted not being able to get safety clearance from the authorities. however, heard that it’s mainly due to the lack participants signed up for the event. riders are trying to get in touch with the organizers but has failed so far. they’ve even created an FB page seeking clarifcation ( organizer’s page in FB has been taken down.

perhaps you can help to enquire as well.
