The first of its kind in Sarawak, the Miri International Century Ride 2017 is to be held in Miri on March 26. Jointly organised by Masterpiece Cycling Club of Miri and Specialised Miri with the support of Sarawak Tourism Ministry, Miri City Council, Royal Malaysia Police, Fire Department and the Cycling Association of Sarawak, this event has confirmed a participation of 400 avid cyclists from Brunei, Singapore, Indonesia, South Africa, the UK, Australia, Germany and Holland.
Participants will be cycling a total distance of 120km, starting from Jalan Merpati near the Permaisuri Mall Miri, they will then make their way to Bekenu via the Pan Borneo Coastal Highway. Participants are to make their way back to the starting point through the slopes of Bukit Song, Lambir Hills National Park.
Chairman of Miri City Council’s tourism development standing committee, councillor Ernest Goh said numerous roadblocks were expected to be set up around the Permaisuri Mall area.
“The council urges members of the public to plan their commute into the city centre properly on the day of the event,” he said.
