SINGAPORE: The Singapore Civil Defence Lionhearters Club organised a cyclothon on Sunday to raise funds for communities affected by the Southeast Asian floods.

Some 150 youths from Singapore Polytechnic, ITE College East and West and Temasek Polytechnic pedalled continuously for 10 hours on bicycle-powered water filtration system.

Non-governmental organisation, Mercy Relief had previously deployed the system at various flood-stricken locations such as Cambodia, Vietnam and the Philippines.

Also participating in the activity were the Thai, Philippines and Cambodian ambassadors to Singapore where they thanked volunteers for their efforts.
