Kayuh Lasak, possibly the most awaited MTB event of the year is back with vengeance. We remember 2012’s edition as a particularly grilling one. This year, KOTRT, the event organizer reminisces the olden days by putting the cyclists back to the original route which climbs four hills in total.

As a reward to Kayuh Lasak fans who have attended the event religiously for the past ten years, KOTRT is giving out altogether seven participants a 10th anniversary jersey each and a special collectors’ picture frame each for the jersey. It is definitely a commendable achievement for not giving up after so many years and no wonder the honor is theirs.

Amongst the seven, three are from Singapore, namely:

1. Adli b. Md. Dahalan (Selangor)
2. Marzukey Md. Yunus (Kelantan)
3. Sim Nai Lee (Pulau Pinang)
4. Lee Chuen Ling (Singapore)
5. Lee Yung Ming (Singapore)
6. Eric Chan (Singapore)
7. Ben Soon (Melaka)

Thanks to the event of the year, Penang is crowded with jersey-clad tourists. Penang’s sports tourism has also taken a boost with a mega MTB event such as Kayuh Lasak year after year. With the school holidays, more domestic tourists from mainly Klang Valley have also traveled the distance to join the fun and not forgetting enjoy what Penang has to offer – trails and food.

Looking back at the days, the first Kayuh Lasak was held in 2002 with only under 250 riders and today it has grown to a 1,500-rider massive event.
