ZAMRI Salleh dedicated his first victory in the National Road Cycling Championships road race in Pasir Putih, Kelantan yesterday to younger brother Harrif, who last month missed out on selection for the Olympics.

Armed Forces’ Zamri, 29, edged Terengganu’s Saiful Anuar Abdul Aziz as the duo pulled away from a breakaway group in the final kilometres, leaving third-placed Mohd Nor Ridzuan Zainal trailing two minutes behind.

Harrif, who was determined to bag the title, and the national champion’s white jersey to go with it, had to settle for seventh spot behind outgoing national champion Shahrul Mat Amin.

“I’ve always wanted the honour of wearing the white tiger jersey and this has finally happened after coming close last year,” said Zamri, who also received the honour as a welcome wedding present after getting married last month.

Adiq Husainie Othman, who will be joined by Amir Mustafa Rusli at the Olympics with Zamri named as reserve rider, finished eighth.
